Three Dead in Attack on Indian Consulate in Afghanistan

Two civilians and a policeman were killed after several insurgents attacked the Indian Consulate in Afghanistan in Jalalabad near the country’s border with Pakistan.

TOLO News reports five insurgents attacked the consulate on Wednesday. One detonated explosives near the front gate to allow the other four to enter, according to Provincial Police Chief Fazel Ahmad Shirzad. Police seized four suicide vests after the attackers were surrounded by Afghan National Security Force personnel.

Fourteen people were injured in the attack.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack and the Taliban have denied involvement, according to Ahmad Mukhtar, a CBS News reporter in Kabul.
