Belgian Prosecutors Identify Suspected Accomplice in Last Year’s Paris Attacks

On Monday, Belgian prosecutors said DNA had identified a suspected accomplice in last year’s Paris attacks as 24-year-old Najim Laachraoui, according to Agence France-Presse.

Until now he was only known by the alias, Soufiane Kayal.

Soufiane Kayal has been identified as Najim Laachraoui, born on May 18, 1991 and who travelled to Syria in February 2013, prosecutors said in a statement.

Laachraoui was one of two men using fake Belgian identity cards who were with Salah Abdeslam in a Mercedes on Sept. 9 as they passed through a checkpoint between Hungary and Austria.

On Monday French digital news channel iTELE released a new video of the intervention by special forces in Brussels Molenbeek on friday and the subsequent arrest of Salah Abdeslam.
