The U.S. Capitol complex and White House were briefly on lockdown Monday afternoon when an individual was shot near the buildings. Previous reports that a police officer had been injured appear to be false.
The alleged shooter is in custody. Congress was not in session.
Shelter in place remains in effect as Capitol Police continue to investigate. Please stay in your assigned location. #alert
