- Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) was called and later confirmed that it contained an explosive mixture, DW reported.
- Package taken to site in Grunewald, southwest of Berlin, and destroyed in a controlled explosion.
- The substance in package was Blitzknallmisch, dpa reported. It often used in the manufacture of fireworks.
- Officials did not confirm that the package was addressed to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, as reported in German media.
- The Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, a Greek far-left group, claimed that they had sent the package to finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble. The organisation was designated as a foreign terrorist group in October 2011, by the US Department of State.
