Liveblog: Results from Georgia’s 6th Congressional district special election

Georgians in portions of metro Atlanta head to the polls today to vote on who will represent them in Congress in the seat vacated by Tom Price. Price was appointed to serve as Health and Human Services Secretary by President Trump. The district covers areas of Atlanta’s northern suburbs east of Interstate 75 in Cobb, Fulton, and DeKalb counties. Trump tweeted his support on Monday for Republican candidates in the race.   There are a total of 18 candidates in the race, which include 11 Republicans, five Democrats and two independents. A runoff on June 20th may be held if no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote. Polls close at 7 p.m. local time, and results should begin trickling in soon afterwards.
