Dozens reported killed and injured after NATO convoy bombed near Kabul

At least two dozen people were injured on Wednesday, May 3 after a NATO convoy hit an improvised explosive device on a busy road near the Afghan capital.

Eight people were killed and another 28 wounded in the explosion near Kabul, AFP reported. An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson told the agency that the dead were mostly civilians.

US Navy Capt. William Slavin, a spokesperson for US forces in Afghanistan, said three US troops were wounded in the IED blast and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Slavin said the NATO Resolute Support mission convoy was targeted.

TOLO News reported that Islamic State claimed responsibility for the bombing.
