Donald Trump has appointed Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his vice presidential pick.

The two are expected to make their first public appearance at an event at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The announcement came about an hour before Pence was required to submit paperwork to formally remove himself from his bid to run for reelection in Indiana, and have the state’s Republican Party select a new candidate.
Previously, Pence served as a congressman for Indiana’s 2nd and 6th congressional districts from 2001 through 2013.
“We need someone who is steady and secure in his principles, someone who can cut through the noise and make a compelling case for conservatism. Mike Pence is that man,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said.
