At least 1,500 people were injured in the Italian city of Turin on Saturday, June 3, when a bomb scare triggered a stampede in a city square, police said.
Thousands of football fans packed into Piazza San Carlo to watch Turin’s Juventus play Real Madrid in the Champions League final on a large screen. Shortly before the game ended, a loud noise caused panic.

AFP reported 1,527 people had been treated for mostly minor injuries, according to local authorities. However, at least three people had sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries, including a young boy with chest injuries.
There are several reports that fireworks triggered the bomb scare but police have not confirmed this.

Real became the first team in the Champions League era to retain the trophy, beating Juventus 4-1. Their third victory in four seasons, Real have won the competition twelve times.
