At least 16 people were killed in a series of weather-related events, including tornadoes and flooding in the southeast United States, ABC News reported.
Forecasters issued a rare “high risk” warning for severe storms for south Georgia, along with north/central Florida and Alabama.
Many mobile homes in southeast Georgia, particularly around Albany, were destroyed, along with others on the Georgia-Florida state line.
“There’s a lot of hurting people right now,” First Baptist Church Adel pastor Bill Merlette said. “There’s just a sense of shock.”
His church is sheltering over 50 people affected by the storm.
Georgia governor Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency in seven southern counties affected by the weather events.
Portions of northern and central Florida and coastal areas of South Carolina are currently under tornado watches for the potential risk of tornadoes through the night.

President Donald Trump contacted Deal and Florida governor Rick Scott, expressing his condolences to those affected.
